Squash players often struggle to find somewhere to play, especially when travelling, and there was no reliable worldwide list of squash venues. Directory data was patchy and out of date, and national bodies had no clear picture of where courts were, how many there were, or where they were closing.
Squash Players has grown into the most comprehensive database of squash venues in the world, with more than 6,600 venues and 17,000 courts mapped. Venues are seeded from Google Maps and kept current by players, who can add, correct or remove venues, with automated and human checks on every change. Listings go well beyond an address, covering details such as the number of courts, pay-and-play, parking, 24/7 access, online booking and showers. Squash Australia and the PSA Foundation have partnered with the app, the World Squash Federation and European Squash Federation use its venue data, and bodies including Portugal's national squash federation have recommended it to players. Alongside the venue map, players can record results, climb automatic ladders and chat with other members, and the data powers public reports on squash venues worldwide.
