Websites still No.1 for Marketing Success

In this fast-paced digital world we live in, where businesses have to run just to stand still and the “next big thing” turns out not to be the next big thing 6 months later,  it can be extremely challenging for businesses to work out where best to invest their digital dollars. Exactly where are your marketing dollars most effectively spent for a superior ROI?

Help is at hand with a recent survey conducted by Gartner Group. In a survey conducted in November and December of 2012, 250+ marketers from US-based companies ranked different types of online marketing in terms of importance: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The results: design, development and maintenance of your (corporate) websites (still) come out on top. Of course this is music to the ears of a website design, development and maintenance company like Itomic! At a time when there’s so much pressure to invest in social media and online advertising (and you still should!), it’s comforting to know that marketing people agree that a quality website should still be at the core of your online marketing strategy.

The survey results suggest that the corporate website will not be displaced anytime soon by a brand’s social media presence,” said Bill Gassman, research director at Gartner. “That’s all the more reason for marketing leaders to continuously invest in measuring and optimizing their websites through Web analytics and testing, paying attention to all aspects — from customized landing pages to compelling content that encourages visitors to be engaged with your brand.

Your website is still your “base camp”, the epicentre of the online representation of your organisation.  People are likely to still find their way back to your website irrespective of other online presences you may have, and campaigns you run. And if your website looks and performs below par, this will likely undermine all your marketing efforts.
