When the iPad met itomic

It was seemingly a normal morning like any other, except something was very different and things would never be the same again. It seemed as if there was a revolution afoot. Yes it was iPad launch day and I just happened upon a JB Hifi with stock.

Apple has done a fantastic job with their marketing here in Australia.

Nobody quite knew, outside of the retailers themselves, who would be stocking the iPad so excitement was at a fever pitch when our intrepid salesperson happened upon the aforementioned JB Hifi retailer with a line up out the front at 10 minutes before opening time.

As I entered JB with calm determination, I was quickly overtaken by those who threw caution and dignity to the wind. As a result I ended spending $150 more than intended but I had to have it today and will have to explain to my wife why I absolutely needed the iPad today instead of next week. With a 32GB 3G iPad under the arm and a smile on my face I left JB and made my way to Itomic’s Perth office.

The iPad really is a joy to behold and has a good weight and feel to it. I really think Apple is onto an absolute winner here. There are many reviews out there already as to functionality and appearance so I will say no more than I love my new iPad and I love the fact that I can consume information where and when I want how I want to.

The first thing I downloaded for my new iPad was ‘The Monthly’ magazine iPad application.

A collaboration between Bonobo Labs and Itomic, the application presents the monthly magazine in electronic format. You can read the magazine as you would normally, bookmark pages, buy past and current editions. You can also increase and decrease text size and with the ten hour battery life of the iPad you can read wherever and whenever you want.

The iPad is a really exciting development for Itomic as web specialists, as well as consumers and businesses in general. Imagine having your entire library of books in the palm of your hand, listening to one of over 10,000 songs with the press of the screen, or flicking through family photos and home movies with ease. For businesses the opportunities are even more exciting.

So if you can get out there in time today pick yourself up an iPad. Rumours are the 16GB varieties are rare so if you find one and want it grab it. There are no price differences, so really if you want it and the wife/husband/partner approves enjoy the experience.

Simon Tysoe is our Sales and Marketing Manager. He and Itomic would love to discuss with anyone interested in iPad friendly websites what we can do for them. Or if you would simply like to discuss our experiences with the iPad and whether we think it is worth the purchase price or not simply contact us.
